Matter PR wins new photonics campaign

21 November 2023
Global communications agency based in Oxford, UK has been selected to deliver a new campaign to raise awareness of light science for the European Technology Platform (ETP) Photonics21.

Showcasing the achievements, breakthroughs, and advancements made by European photonics scientists, Matter PR’s new campaign will illustrate the impact of photonics partnership projects funded by the European Commission.

The Photonics21 platform fosters collaboration between industry and academic institutions to strengthen Europe’s position in the global photonics market while identifying research and innovation priorities.

Account director at Matter PR, Sam Young, said: “This campaign will focus on the latest technological use cases being developed by EU consortia. We will look at how photonics can help solve Europe’s societal challenges (such as the instant diagnosis of major diseases, quality food from farm to fork, accident and congestion-free transport, and a truly circular economy) and how optics can advance EU priorities like the Digital Transformation of European industry or the European Green Deal.”

Photonics – the science and technology of generating, controlling, and detecting particles of light or photons – encompasses a wide range of applications, including telecommunications, imaging, sensing, lighting, and medical technologies.

Matter PR's campaign will showcase the achievements, breakthroughs, and advancements made by European photonics scientists.

Our past work has promoted the Photonics Public Private Partnership as a global leader in light science research and innovation. With a series of integrated media campaigns, we highlighted human news angles popular with science, technology and innovation publications,” Young said.

Matter PR’s campaigns to promote photonics research and technology have been the sector’s most successful global PR campaign ever. With 59 media, advocacy and thought leadership campaigns, Matter PR generated 1634 pieces of media coverage in 45 different countries and reached over 185 million people, representing an advertising value totalling approximately €7.8 million.

From public outreach to stakeholder engagement, Matter PR specialises in helping organisations translate complex scientific projects into compelling stories that help communicate the importance and potential impact of their work.

Established in 2013, Matter PR is one of the only communications agencies specialising solely in engineering, science and technology.
